Im in australia a month is pretty normal waiting list.
I was prescribed first visit and given injectables...the whole deal. They check your numbers and hubbys numbers and sperm, they normally do an ultrasound also
My prob wasnt getting pg it was staying pg.
IUI helped me get a sticky pregnancy (well i hope it is)
Be aggresive and get what you want...your paying the money so make it worth your while...write down LOTS of questions and bring it with you and write down there answers

1. About 1-2 months wait for an appointment
2. The first visit, Clomid and Metformin (pcos) (took for 10 cycles)
3. Only a few months of not having a period and being diagnosed with pcos after stopping the contraceptive pill.
4. I am still not pregnant!
Now I am seeing another specialist about IVF, appointment in two weeks time.
That is so mean about your weight, I had a gyno tell me to lose weight and come back to see him, so I took my business elsewhere, and that gyno was brillliant - so don't listen to that dr, if you feel good, that is what counts.

I got an appointment in about a month. At the first visit, I had an internal ultrasound and blood taken. My doctor could tell from the ultrasound that I am not ovulating due to PCOS (I was diagnosed when I was 18). I was started on metformin and provera right away, and now that I have had a period I am taking Clomid. Next week, I will go back for an additional ultrasound and bloodwork so that they can see if the clomid worked.
Shortly after our first appointment, my husband went for a semen analysis.
This is only my first month under treatment, so I'm not qualified to answer your other questions yet- but it varies for everyone, try not to focus on how quickly things worked for other people- your results could be better or worse.

Hi!! You probably know my story by now but
1. 2 weeks, I had my primary doctor refer me
2. 1 appointment actually. We went for our consultation 1st. Then I had to go get an HSG and hubby a sperm analysis. The nurse called with the results and said for me to call back on cd 1 and then I will go in on cd 3 for an ovarian scan and to order my FSH injectibles and to learn info on them. Start the FSH injectibles on cd 5. I will go back in for a scan after finishing the injectibles and they will tell us when to try. Then wait and see. We will try this 3 cycles before moving on to more invasive treatments.
3. Haven't got pregnant yet but we have been ttc for 20 months.
4. Will be starting first cycle of treatments soon and hoping that is all we need!!!!!!!

I'm not up on the fertility Specialist but your ob refusing to test you because you are overweight is absurd!!! Some Doctors can be so not in touch with their patients.....If you have the option of changing OB's, I suggest that you do it. A regular OB is not a fertility expert. I bet your ob is skinny and evil!!

1. I was told that it would most likely take a month or two to be able to get our first appointment with the FS. My OB suggested I go ahead and call to reserve an appointment a couple of months before being ready to go. Well, when I called, the receptionist said, "we have a cancellation Wednesday, can you come then?" I was floored! Of course I jumped at the chance! (I suggest asking them if they will contact you with cancellations if your appointment is a month or more away.)
2. Our first visit was purely informational. DH went also and we met the Dr. and gave him our history. He allowed us to ask any questions and he also had lots of blood drawn so that he could run tests. Our second visit was to find out the results of the tests, which resulted in my being diagnosed with Insulin Resistence and being prescribed Metformin. After being on the Metformin for one cycle, he tested for ovulation and determined that I was not ovulating, so he prescribed Clomid. I have now been through two cycles of Clomid with him and he has suggested that we move on to an IUI next time. (I am having to wait a month to take my MMR vaccine, because I'm not immune) So, we will be starting the IUI process at the end of April or early May.
3. We began trying in January of 2006. Our thoughts were, a new year, a new life with a baby. Unfortunately, it just didn't work out that way.
4. I haven't been blessed with a pregnancy yet, but I am staying hopeful for success with the IUI.

1) took one day to get a specialist ( i live in Utah) i went to a private clinic vs the clinic at the University of Utah hospital. Because it is private you get more attention! I would recommend to all.
2) I visited with the specialist it cost 250.00 for one hour. I brought my medical history. Which showed that I did not ovulate on 2 months of Clomid and have never been pregnant and that all else seemed okay. When I left that appt i had an RX for Metformin, Femara and Prometrium. I was told to come back on Day 3 of my cylce to test my FSH, LH, Estradiol and Glucose Fasting. Everything came back normal but i wanted to be aggressive. Since I am dealing with a private clinic and I am paying out of pocket i told them I want to be aggressive ( I am 30 hubby is 41 we have no kids) now here I am less than one month since my first appt and I am on gonal F injections and going for ultrasound tomorrow to see if follicles are growing!! (wish me baby dust)
3) I have been trying to get pregnant since July 2007.
4) I am still trying but hoping that my time will come soon.
My advice to you is:
be aggressive.
know what you want to have done.
get the testing
don't give up
you will make a baby!!!

Why not try with your regular OB 1st.It will be alot cheaper if you go that route 1st.I did'nt know but my regular OB did'nt go to school for it but she consulted with friends that did go to school for it and had me examine and tested for everything.I'm saying this because your insurance will cover this,rather than you paying out of pocket.My problem,I had several miscarriages,a blighted ovuam,ectopic pregnancy which resulted in me loosing part of my right tube,and then after the ectopic I concieved and had a terrible fall at work in a shower room and tore my placenta.I was 21 weeks.This was last Jan.So we know that one tube is working,she sent me for a chromosome test,hemoglobin C,estrogen,progesterone,SHG AND a HSG one checks for scarring on uteran walls and one check your tubes for blockage and so forth.I was tested for some other things to BUT to make a long story short,all this was paid for with my Blue Cross Blue Shields.Now I'm on 50 mg of clomid I just started.I finished my last pill Thursday.She perscribed such a low dose because we know I ovualte,I just have one tube and were hoping to give that one tube a boost.GL to you.UPDATE,UPDATE,UPDATE,UPDATE I called my doctor for you today and she said that's bad malpractice.My OB said how dare she.She did'nt want to comment to much because she said she don't know your case exactly.I'm sorry to hear you have an azz hole doctor.For all that she could just tell you some ways maybe to lose weight.Maybe even sending you to a endocronologist.I want to be the 1st to tell you don't think it's your weight.My mom older sister aunt sis is big.I'm talkin 5ft7 an 234 and she never had a problem concieving.So if there is a problem,I doubt if it's related to your weight.GL
